Thomas Mann
Thomas Mann was a German novelist and short story writer whose work spanned the turn of the 20th century. His most famous works include Buddenbrooks (1901), Death in Venice (1912),
The magic mauntain (1924), and Doctor Faustus (1947). He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929.
Mann was born in 1875 in Lübeck, Germany.Mann's first novel "Buddenbrooks" was published in 1901 when he was only 25 years old. The book tells the story of a wealthy merchant family in northern Germany that falls on hard times when their head dies unexpectedly; it explores how generations within families relate to one another as well as how they interact with society at large. The book won Mann international acclaim and he went on to publish many more novels including "Death in Venice" (1912), "Doctor Faustus" (1947), "Confessions of Felix Krull: The Story of My Life" (1954), and others.
