Van Halen is an American hard rock band that was very popular in the 1980s. They were formed in Pasadena, California, in 1972. Van Halen's debut album was released in 1978 and sold over one million copies. The band's first single "Runnin' with the Devil" reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100. It also became their first number one song on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
