"Gloomhaven" is a board game where you and your friends become adventurers in a mysterious world. Each adventurer has unique skills and their own reasons for being there. You all have to team up to explore dangerous dungeons and forgotten ruins. As you go on these adventures, you'll get better at what you do and find cool stuff. The game has an unfolding story, and what you decide to do after each adventure affects what happens next, kind of like those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books.

Playing the game involves working together to fight computer-controlled monsters using special cards. Each turn, you pick two cards from your hand. The number on the top card decides when you act in the round. Each card has powers on the top and bottom, and you choose how to use them. But be careful, because you lose cards from your hand as you go along. If you take too long to finish an adventure, you might get too tired and have to leave.
