Mikhail Bulgakov
Mikhail Bulgakov was a Russian novelist, dramatist and short-story writer. He is best known for his satire about the life of doctors, religion and other topics.
Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov was born in Kiev on May 3, 1891. He began writing plays in the 1910s. His first novel, The White Guard (1923–25), is a satire of Russian White guards living in Kiev during the revolution and the civil war. The Master and Margarita is widely considered his greatest work, although critics may prefer one of his earlier novels such as Heart of a Dog or its sequel Memoirs of a Dog; the latter is primarily a play rather than a standard narrative novel. It is also said that he wrote several unpublished novels before he died.
